PRESS: Skoltech, digital ministry want 30 bln rbl for 6G

MOSCOW, Jul 27 (PRIME) -- Russian research-focused institute Skoltech and research institute NIIR under the Digital Development Ministry have asked for over 30 billion rubles to design 6G equipment, which may be created by 2025, business daily Kommersant reported on Wednesday quoting a well-informed source.

Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko ordered the Digital Development Ministry, the Science and Higher Education Ministry and the Finance Ministry to allocate additional financing for research and development of 6G connection networks when forming the budget for 2023 and 2024–2025 till August 1.

NIIR General Director Oleg Ivanov confirmed to the daily that the institute in teamwork with Skoltech had prepared suggestions on development of 6G equipment, but said that it is too early to speak about details or financing.

The work will include designing equipment from a prototype to the launch of production, components, and elaboration of the legal base and research of safety of the new networks, he said.
